I’ve been playing around with tee designs for a couple of years, but the timing or meaning hasn’t felt right until now. I’ve been thinking about my pop-ups and exhibitions over the last year and how they’ve all drastically changed my perspective and honestly my life-- some in big ways, some in little ways and some in ways I know I won’t realise until much later. The idea of holding onto them through a t-shirt feels like a cool way to let them live on a little further.

Each pop-up is an entirely unique experience and they’re all incredibly meaningful opportunities for me. I’m excited to write to you about my recent one in particular and am even more excited at the notion of having some little slices of it out and about in the world.

I chose ‘rare shiny carousel’ to feature on my first tee offering as I find her to emit a strong, joyful and optimistic feminine spirit wherever she goes. When I first painted this piece in 2021, I sent a picture of her to my brother and he texted back “ooh that one’s a rare shiny!” – naturally I think my older brother is the coolest person in the world and was delighted by the praise, so I carried it into the name.

This print features in over 80 homes in Australia and around the world and is constantly being enriched by the gaze of her collectors <3
