This summer I'll be presenting my work in a three day pop-up event at Darlinghurst’s, Rainbow Studios from Friday 8th - Sunday 10th December, 2023.
Over the past three years I've been very fortunate to connect online with collectors across Australia, with Sydney marking itself as the largest collector base of my feminine inspired giclée prints and original artwork. As you know, my work is inspired by the feminine condition and the intricacies of the female experience, particularly the complex ways women connect, associate and dissociate with one another.
For a long time I've been particularly inspired by the complex ways women communicate and am bemused by the underlying rivalry that often permeates female relationships; where hostility and control triumphs over empathy and kindness. I'm both intrigued and unsettled by the ways young women pull themselves apart only to compare their strengths and weaknesses to the other women around them.
In light of this, I hope for my paintings to propose a joyful reclamation of sisterhood that is free of judgement, brimming with promise and emanating a gentle reminder of our likeness.
Alike each piece before it, the collection presented at Rainbow Studios this December has been created with a desire to represent the ever-present abilities of spirit over the immediacy of form.
Each of my collector’s are precious and their support has been extremely meaningful to me over the past three years. Being able to connect so easily online is amazing and I’m really grateful for it– but meeting my collector’s in person is the most rewarding part of my work and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to do so in Sydney for the very first time.
If you're Sydney-based, I'd adore the opportunity to meet you-- new collectors, longtime collectors, yet to collect or simply eager to meet <3
The pop up will run for three days only and will feature new original paintings and a selection of framed giclée prints, perfectly timed for the Christmas season. It's short, but I know it's bound to be wonderfully sweet.
The pop-up will also host an evening event to celebrate the launch of a new By Narjia Brownlie charitable initiative, Petals x Ali Whittle, a unique collaboration featuring Sydney-based creative Ali Whittle.
